"HOW-To" Create a Condenced "ZIP" file.

So you wanna know how to create a ZIP file?
Three easy parts to this process.
I. Create a blank file:
-----------------------------
1. Open Winzip from wherever you have a shortcut to it.

2. Click on "Agree" so the program will open.

3. Click on the "New" button in the menu bar to create the
file.
4. A "New Archive" window pops up for you to give the file a
name
and indicate a location to put this file.

5a. In the "Create in:" box, determine a location you want
to place the file.
Until you get comfortable with the process, just type in "C:\".
(Hint: Normally you would NOT place them in the root directory,
but rather in some place you can place your collection of ZIP
files.)
5b. In the "File Name:" box, enter a name that identifies the
file, such as "birdhouse-img".
Do NOT add the extension, Winzip will add it for you.
5c. Make sure in the "Files of Type:" box, it says "Zip
files"
6. Click the "OK" button. A new ZIP file is now
created but is still empty.
II. Select contents to place into ZIP file:
---------------------------------------------------------
7. In the "Add from:" box, go to wherever the files are that
you want to add.
(Ex: D:\photos\birds\houses, etc.)
8. Select all the files you wish to add to this file and highlight them.
9. Then click the "Add" button.

10. The files will be copied in to the Winzip window.

11. You're finished!! Now that didn't hurt a bit, did it?
Just close the window by either clicking on the
"x" in the upper right corner or
go to "File/Exit".
III. Now verify the contents of the file.
----------------------------------------------------
9. Go to the location you placed the file using Windows Explorer.
In this case it was in the root directory of "C:\".

10. Double click on the file you just created.
Winzip should open the file,
11. Click on "Agree".
12. Verify that all the files are here.
(Hint: You can add or delete files to the contents by dragging and dropping a file into
the Winzip window.)
Now you have a single condenced file that contains many other files.
You can send the single file to someone as an attachment to an email or store it somewhere
where it takes up less space than the individual files would occupy.
